Washington Sights & Attractions
Washington State is full of variety. You can be on the beach flying a kite, hiking a rainforest and skiing all in one day. There is so much to do and explore, especially if you either love mountains or water. There is so much water with Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean. Then there are the thousands of lakes and the mighty Columbia River which runs for hundreds of miles. Mountains run the length of the state vertically and horizontally. Three National Parks and a whole lot of Wilderness Areas are scattered throughout the state. A high majority of the population considers themselves the outdoor type. Just surviving in town, you need to understand layering, especially the outer waterproof layer. The weather in Western Washington is awful. It can drizzle non stop for weeks. Lifelong residents become hardened to it and become some of the best outdoorsman around. Here are some of the sights:
