Shenandoah National Park
You will often hear on the trail that Shenandoah National Park was a let down. This stems from the lack of viewpoints along the trail inside the park. For whatever reason, the park ran the AT avoiding some of the more popular scenic vistas. Fortunately, the vistas are not far off the trail but you need to know where to be looking for the side trails to reach them.

Without the vistas, hiking the Appalachian Trail through Shenandoah is still a good hike with some amazing forest. But even better, is all the Waysides you can explore and enjoy. You could do this section literally with little to no food. The wayside shops and restaurants offer everything you need. Timing on when they are open is your goal here. If you know the hours and where each are located, it makes for a bit of enjoyment at a point along the trail where some variety is needed.
Below are some links to other locations I hiked in the park. They are listed from best to worst.
