Appalachian Trail
The second highest range of peaks in the New Hampshire White Mountains is Franconia Ridge. The Appalachian Trail passes right over the top and remains above tree line for about 1.5 miles. Due to the alpine views and some huts nearby, the traverse is super popular among day hikers. It is considered one of the top 5 hikes in the Northeast. The hike traverses Mount Lafayette, Mount Lincoln, and Little Haystack, but there are 3 others to hike up if transportation can be arranged. For AT hikers, 3 out of the 6 are traversed with just Mount Liberty and Garfield with quick side trails to reach 5.
