Carter Mountains and Mount Moriah
Finishing out the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Appalachian Trail crosses over South, Middle and North Carter Mountains. These are AMC 4000-footer peaks and offer occasional viewpoints. Finally, Mount Moriah is crossed but not over the summit. A short spur trail must be climbed to reach the summit and views from the rocky top. After Moriah, the trail drops considerably to Highway 2. The trail follows the highway a short distance passing right by The Quantum Vortex. This is a nice hostel where you could stay or just get a shuttle into town to stay. Celebrate, the Whites are finished!
