Utah Fire Lookouts
This is a simple mountain just above Wolf Creek Summit south of the Uintas. Not the greatest hike but an easy peak bag if you are around the area.
Fire Lookout History:
In 1910, the road from Wanship south to Kamas was added to the state highway system. In 1914, a branch was added from Kamas southeast to Stewarts Ranch just beyond Woodland. It was extended to Stockmore in 1918.

On January 10, 1914, the Ogden Examiner reported: The Stockmore route would give accessibility to more timber, and would pass the new Wolf Creek lookout station, one of the points on the Uinta Forest on which a lookout is maintained during a dangerous fire season, and would provide a means of transporting men and equipment quickly to this region in case of a fire emergency.

I do not know if the lookout was located on the summit but that would be the most logical location although views are certainly good from other ridgeline locations.
Access:
Get up onto the Duchesne Ridge Road above Highway 35 at the Wolf Creek Summit campgrounds. Just north of the peak the road enters forests as it traverses below the summit. Once you reach the east ridge of the peak, the road breaks out of the forest where there is some parking.
Route:
To hike up, we walked back on the road a bit until we found the easiest way up through the forest. Most of the forest floor was easy walking. Near the summit, the peak breaks out of the trees and a rocky knob is there for the easy but alpine looking summit. Views are good but the same as from the roads in the area.
