Buell and Barrier Peaks
These are two peaks worth a scramble if you find the Owyhigh Lakes too tame. Barrier Peak is the highlight with a full 360 degree view. Buell is not very exciting but is a named summit within the park if you are into bagging all the park peaks. These two summits are nearly a mile apart by ridgeline that has grassy meadows and subalpine forest, making for a pleasant hike.

Buell Peak honors John Latimore Buell who arrived in Orting, Washington, in 1890 and went into the hardware business. Barrier Peak was so named because it served as a barrier between the Cayuse Pass region and the rest of Mount Rainier National Park.
