Wine Spring Bald
The Appalachian Trail purposefully traverses just below the summit as to avoid seeing all the ugly communication towers that have been built on the summit. As a peakbagger, it is hard to do all the elevation gain for such a prominent mountain but then skip the highest point. To reach the actual summit, a half hour is needed to detour 15 minutes each way to get up to the top. The only bright side of this viewless summit is that you have a large opening at the top that you can dry out your gear, if wet. Gravel parking areas are usually nice and clean to lay out all your stuff. A short side trail from the AT cuts over to the mountain access road and then just an easy road walk to the top.
