Lookout History
In 1910, there was a wood tower lookout station at this site.
In 1919, we know the tower on Pleasant Pond Mountain was newly painted.
In 1917, a 24-foot steel tower erected.
In 1920, the inventory shows a 36-foot steel tower.
In 1951, the tower was removed and re-erected on Barren Mountain.

1956 USGS map with 1963 update. I could not find any map showing a lookout on top but this one does show a trail and structure square dot. Note that the trail now goes over Middle Mountain.
