Appalachian Trail
In Pennsylvania, the Appalachian Mountains are a series of ridges that are not all connected. For the trail to keep a general NE direction going, many valleys must be crossed to get from one ridgeline to another. The largest crossing is the Cumberland Valley. This particular area of the AT is totally unique and very welcomed at this point of the journey. As the pictures show, there are open farm fields and easy rolling hills, a drastic change. Pull out the sun hat and sunscreen. In the middle of the valley is Boiling Springs, one of the nicest towns traversed on the entire Appalachian Trail.
