Lopez Island Tour
If you are visiting Lopez Island, here are some places to consider.
With a natural sand spit enclosing a saltwater lagoon, easy walking on hardpacked roadway allows you to enjoy the scenery. Dramatic views include Decatur and Blakely Islands. The park offers crabbing, clamming, saltwater fishing, swimming, diving, bird and wildlife viewing and 2 miles of hiking trails.
This is one of the most popular hiking destinations on Lopez Island. Your chances of seeing wildlife are nearly certain. With the changing tides, the weather and busy marine traffic, your sure to be entertained as you sit on the comfortable rock ledges eating a snack.
Iceberg Point
Park at Agate Beach County Park, then walk up the road to a trail through private property and out to Iceberg Point. Sounds strange but this hike is one of the most popular on the island. There are many opportunities for photos and wildlife out in the water from the bluffs. Several trails provide a loop trip if desired or just go out to the grassy point and back.
Lopez Village
Located beside Fisherman Bay, Lopez Village is the commercial hub for Lopez Island. The Village is located about 4 miles from the ferry landing. At the Village, you can find shops, galleries, coffee shops, a bakery, restaurants, the grocery store.
Lopez Hill is 400 acres of hiking and biking trails. There are no views but if you want to get some forest walking in and visit the highest point on Lopez Island, this is your place.
Odlin County Park
Located just one mile from the Lopez Island Ferry landing this 80-acre waterfront park has 30 campsites, a sandy beach, a boat launch, hiking trails, a ball field and several picnic areas and a day use dock.
