Shark Reef Sanctuary - Lopez Island

Even if you are not a hiker, Shark Reef Sanctuary is a must if you are on Lopez Island.
The short half mile trail drops through tall timber to the viewing area where all kinds of wildlife can be witnessed. Even with crowds of people, there seems to be dozens of spots to just sit and relax on the rocks enjoying the show. Other than wildlife, there are always boats and airplanes zipping between the Cattle Pass channel between Lopez and San Juan Island. If you have visited San Juan Island, you will enjoy looking across the way spotting Mount Finlayson and its open grassy slopes.
