This is not a very exciting mountain. What it has is prominence and pretty easy access. Good roads circle the peak fairly close to the summit. In September of 2020, the Big Hollow Fire burned a considerable amount of the mountains timber. Dead snags will be evident for years to come and falling snags is probably the only danger on this mountain.
Access:
Forest Road 64 out of Carson in the gorge is the easiest way, although routes do exist from the west. Take 64 to the end of the pavement, then nice gravel roads to the left on FR 58, then right on 6406.
Route:
You can park and just hike up pretty much anywhere near the top of 6406 road but driving spur 214 road to the end on the north side is the highest spot possible. The fire burned hot on the north side for some reason so there was zero vegetation left in 2021. The west side still has some green trees. With no underbrush, travel was easy, just a few downed trees to work around.
