Crescent Butte Lookout Site

From Crescent on Highway 97, turn East on Hill or Jones Street. Both streets should get you onto the dirt roads behind the town. You will pass a few houses at the edge of town. Once on the backroads, it is a massive free-for-all. All those roads you see on the map are real. There are roads everywhere. Use you best judgment and work your way up. A good reference is that there are powerlines going due East-West up to the summit. Sometimes the powerline road is ok, but it gets steep and finding a switchback road is probably best. Good luck, it was actually quite easy when I did it.

In 1938, there was a cab.
In 1954, the cab was destroyed.
In 1958, the USGS described a microwave mast at the summit. No lookout mentioned.
