Although the lookout is gone, this lookout site is very popular due to it being a trailhead for several peaks in the Selkirk Mountains. Mount Roothaan is an easy one that is mostly a hike with an easy scramble on boulders at the end.
In 1932, there was a log cabin,
In 1934, a 40-foot pole L-4 tower was constructed.
In 1970, the log cabin was moved to the Kinner place on Priest Lake.
In 1977, the tower came down.
