In 1930 there was a camp. Keith Johnson was the lookout in 1930, 1931 and 1932.
In 1931, Dudley Helms and George Miller hauled lumber to Point Defiance for a lookout structure.
In 1932, a 12 x12 foot frame cabin was built. A short wave radio for sending and receiving was also given to the site.
On September 24, 1934, panoramic images were taken. A large snowstorm had just hit, probably by surprise but the photo crew was so far in the backcountry they probably had no choice but to continue. They probably chose to do the ground level photos instead of climbing onto a snowy roof top (and a steep one).
In 1954 the frame cabin was removed.
