Horton Butte Lookout Site

In 1934, an L-5 cab was built. On September 16, panoramic photos were taken at 4 feet. A shadow appears to be some kind of structure, probably the lookout under construction.

In 1939, during the fall, Austin Post was an emergency lookout. He shares the story that during a particularly bad lightning storm that was igniting fires all over Chelan, his parents got a knock at the door during the night. The ranger asked for Austin to go up on Horton Butte Lookout Station. Read his story below.

In 1953 the cab was destroyed.
