In 1933, by the end of summer, a 72-foot (possibly 80-foot) pole tower with eight-foot observatory cab was nearly finished, along with lightning protection, and a ground log cabin living quarters. The work was done by CCC members from Camp Deadman.
In 1934, E.E. Sizemore and crew finished the tower and cabin after having completed work over on the Skalawag tower. They were a CCC crew from the Growden Camp or Growden Ranger Station. From this tower seven other lookouts could be seen, as well as the Deadman Creek watershed, Kelley Hill and the City of Colville could be observed. A road went nearly to the top.
In 1944, the lookout was manned by a couple, Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Gehrke of Colville.
In 1955, a 30-foot timber tower with L-4 cab was built. The lookout person was Dale Rollins this year.
In 1956, the lookout person was Lawrence Tolliver.
In 1985, the tower and cab were relocated next to the Keller Historical Museum in Colville on a small hill overlooking the city. The Stevens County Historical Society purchased.
