WillhiteWeb.com
Crowell Ridge is located in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness. Access is by hiking above 6,500 feet for a long distance. The ridge is book ended by Sullivan Mountain Lookout on one end and Gypsy Peak Patrol Point on the other end.
In 1929, a gable-roofed L-4 cab was built. The lookout that year was Alec Muffelbonn, who was struck by lightning in 1929.
In 1935, the lookout over the summer was Bill Nelson. He had the misfortune to cut the forefinger of his left hand with an axe, necessitating him spending a couple of days in the hospital and to have his hand in a splint.
There was also a patrol lookout associated with this lookout site 3 miles NNE at the end of the ridgeline on Gypsy Peak.
Ruins are found at the site.
