I-90 Corridor Hikes
Rachel Lake and the Rampart Lakes are super popular destinations. Trails branch out from the lakes to nearby ridges and mountains, Alta being the best/easiest. All the lakes and Alta Mountain can be visited as a day hike.

Hiking Distance: around 6 miles one-way
Elevation Gain: around 3,500 feet
Prominence: 520 feet

From the west, take I-90 east to exit 62 (signed "Kachess Lake"). Turn left from the exit ramp and drive northeast on Kachess Lake Road (Forest Road 49) toward Kachess Lake. Follow the signs to Lake Kachess Campground. Turn left on FR 4930, which leads about 4 miles to a large parking lot and the trailhead at the road's end.

Rachel Lake and Alta Mountain

Route:
The Rachel Lake Trail starts across the road to the north of the parking area. Follow this trail to the lakes. Keep and eye out for trails onto the ridge and then easily up to Alta Mountain on the ridge.
