Colchuck Lake - Aasgard Pass
WillhiteWeb.com
Pass Elevation: 7,800 feet
Hiking Distance: 6 miles one-way
Elevation gain: 4,400 feet
Access: Good gravel roads
Take Icicle Creek Road out of Leavenworth, turn left after 8.5 miles onto Eightmile Road, and continue on this dirt road for 3.8 miles to a large parking lot and the trailhead.
Having always been a popular destination, this trail is now even more of a zoo thanks to social media. Crowds should thin some once past the lake. The pass is spectacular and a challenging destination for many. The route is popular for people doing a one way long 20 mile day hike through the enchantments since camping permits are so hard to get. Be aware in spring conditions, many inexperience people have died either glissading down or falling into the hidden creek below the snowpack.
