Honduras, Roatan (Mahogany Bay)

When cruise ships say they are going to Honduras, most often they are stopping at the island of Roatan. On the island are beach resorts owned by the cruise industry. The shore excursions outside the resort area are pretty limited, hence the cruise line keeps you for the day spending your cash at their facilities. But, there are some things to see and do in Rotan if you want more than a beach day. In realty, there is time for both. We hired a taxi to take us to Arches Iguana Park and then some viewpoints on the island. Other activities are available but they are similar to anything you would find elsewhere like horseback riding, dolphin encounter, botanical gardens, zipline. The main attraction seems to be 3 or 4 beach locations.
