Located on Lake Washington, this park features a playground, picnic areas, a sand volleyball court, and a seasonal swimming beach. For older kids, there is a dock with diving in deep water. A reservable shelter is also available. There is a small parking lot with 25 spaces for parking.
In 1969, three women organized a campaign to obtain federal funding to purchase the Houghton Beach Park land from the Shell and Standard Oil companies before they sold the land for private development. It was successful and brought federal grant funding to purchase, design and develop the park. Ground was broken in 1971. Houghton Beach Park was renamed Doris Cooper Houghton Beach Park in July 2012.
