In 1929, this site was a camp.

In 1934, on September 26, panoramics were taken at 4 feet above ground. Lumber for the lookout can be seen in the pictures ready for building the cab. The panoramics call it Thirteen Mile Ridge, not mountain.

In 1935, a 10-foot pole tower with L-5 cab was built.

In 1936, a survey party described the lookout site as a barren grassy top, locally known as Thirteen Mile Mountain. The monument was 4 meters from the center of the lookout house. A road sign in route to the mountain also called it 13 Mile Lookout.

In 1942, the lookout was used by the AWS. It was activated on March 27, 1942 and deactivated on May 9, 1942.

In 1945, a survey party revisited the benchmark and the lookout was still standing.

Later in the 1940s, the tower and cab were destroyed.
