Lions Mane - Pelletgun Hill
A dumpster diver does not deserve two un-official names, but this little knob in the North Fork Snoqualmie has got that honor. Logging shaved the remaining trees so the hill no longer actually looks like a lions mane. You can be sure there is litter from target shooters lying around so maybe Pelletgun Hill is now most appropriate. There are a few options to this one, since the main North Fork Snoqualmie River Road traverses the entire west side of the hill. This one is on private timberland that may now require a permit to hike.

Although there is a road to the summit area from the south, I followed a route described to me that took the north ridge. I do not remember why, maybe the south route was posted no trespassing or there was a parking issue. From the north gate, follow the blocked logging road that goes toward the Lions Manes north side. It should wrap around nearly reaching the North Fork Road again (another possible starting point). Go around the north ridge of the destination, then climb cross country up 260 feet to reach a landing and good road which takes you up to near the summit. Finish the final portion is off the road through logging debris, to the highest spot.
