Kakawak Peak

Kawkawak Peak, point 5121 is located just east of Colquhoun Peak. The name was given by a local peakbagger who used the Chinook name of "light green" for this rather boring summit. With 361 feet of prominence, it probably isn't on many peoples radar. Just west of the summit, are a few views in each direction, but certainly nothing you can't see from the trailhead.

Washington Hiking
From Enumclaw, take Hwy 410 to Greenwater. At 1.5 miles past Greenwater, turn left on Forest Road 70. Follow it 8.1 miles to a left turn on Forest Road 7030 that climbs up Whistler Creek. At the ridge-top is a 4 way intersection. Turn right and follow until you get to a high pass with plenty of parking. (see map)
Access:
The south east ridge has many open areas making for some generally light brush-bashing. There is a road from the east saddle that temps you to walk up it putting you high on the north side of the mountain. But, at the end of the road, the brush is much worse than anywhere else on the mountain. The summit area has not been cut and holds easy open terrain. There is likely a route from the Colquhoen Peak Trail as well
