The Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail was previously known as the John Wayne Pioneer Trail/Iron Horse State Park. The old rail corridor stretches more than 285 miles across Washington State, following the historic route of the Milwaukee Railroad from Cedar Falls in North Bend to the Idaho border.

Washington State Parks currently manages approximately 250 miles of trail within this corridor. There are many highlights on this trail but I have only done some of them. Although only open to hiking and biking, I have driven the trail in a fire vehicle from Cedar Falls all the way up to the Snoqualmie Tunnel and through the tunnel in a vehicle. In recent years, the trail bridge over the Columbia River was opened.
