Every fan of Bruce Lee will have a desire to visit his last resting place. For those of us that grew up with several pairs of nunchucks, and posters of Bruce on our wall, there is a desire to visit this location in Seattle. Bruce Lee was alive from 1940 to 1973, born in San Francisco, died in Hong Kong. He is the founder of Jeet Kune Do, an acclaimed Martial Artist, an Actor and a Film Director. In times past, his grave site was one of the most popular tourist attractions in Seattle. Buried next to Bruce is his son, Brandon Lee. Brandon was killed during the filming of the movie, The Crow. Although some of the most notable people in the history of Seattle are buried nearby in the cemetery, the Bruce Lee grave is by far the most visited. On a nice day, the cemetery itself offers some nice views. When you enter the cemetery, go up the hill and past the flagpole on the left. The graves are just northeast of the flagpole. Look for the dead grass from all the people parking on it.
His family moved to Hong Kong when he was an infant. At age 13 he lost a street fight and began studding Kung Fu. By age 19 he was one of the toughest street fighters in Hong Kong. His parents convinced him to return to the United States. Working odd jobs and teaching Kung Fu, Lee entered the University of Washington in 1961, eventually earning a degree in philosophy. Lee opened his first formal school in Oakland, California. In 1966, Lee starred as Kato in the television series "The Green Hornet". Bruce Lee returned to Hong Kong to star in films like "Fists of Fury" and "The Chinese Connection". Then he did "Enter the Dragon" and performed/directed "Return of the Dragon". In 1973, after experiencing a series of headaches, Bruce Lee died of a cerebral edema. Many still speculate about the death but the prevailing medical opinion remains that Lee died from a combination of medications.
