Lake Wilderness Park & Lodge
As the City of Maple Valley is ever expanding, Lake Wilderness is becoming a bit less like wilderness and more crowded. However, this large regional park has been developed to handle some large crowds. Visitors come from all around to enjoy all the traditional activities a city park can offer. Lake Wilderness Park was part of the King County Parks but was transferred to the City of Maple Valley in 2003. Some of the features of Lake Wilderness Park are a children's play area with swings and play structures, picnic tables and barbecues, picnic shelters, tennis courts, softball, walking paths, summer swimming area, fishing, and a boat launch for boats with small electric engines. Annual events include: Fishing Derby & Fishermen's Breakfast, Maple Valley Days, Music in the Park, 4th of July Celebration with Fireworks, Seafair Kid's Festival and Family Concert, Outdoor Movie Under the Stars, Wilderness Games, and Holiday Lights Celebration.
