Probably the most accessible State Park on the Kitsap Peninsula if passing through the area, Kitsap Memorial State Park is right off Highway 3 as you approach the Hood Canal Bridge. Stopping for the night or just a day visit, visitors get saltwater beach access, nice shading fir trees, and a playground with playfield for the kids. If you do stay overnight, there is a small number of camping spots RV spots, so reserve ahead of time. For something more interesting, 4 cabin rentals are available, each cabin is 13-by-13-feet in size, furnished with a bunk bed that sleeps three and a futon that sleeps two. They even have kitchenettes with mini refrigerators and microwaves. Other activities around the park include shellfish harvesting, crabbing, diving, swimming, fishing, bird watching, volleyball, and a few short hiking trails. Kitsap Memorial State Park also advertises their historic log hall for weddings, receptions, family reunions, and company picnics.
