Dosewallips State Park is where you go to set up base camp. You will find regular tent campsites, RV sites, many cabins and five-person platform preset tents. Although there is a route to the beach, it is not close to the campsites. But, the park is big and there are many activities to enjoy. These activities include large grassy fields, 5 miles of hiking trails, natural areas, river access, covered picnic areas, an amphitheater, horseshoe pits, volleyball, and evening wildlife that strolls into camp. Most unique is the wildlife viewing platform overlooking the shoreline area. For campers, two group sites exist, one for 80 visitors another for 20. If cabins are your thing, there are 12 each with a porch, electric heat, lights and locking doors. They sleep up to 5 persons. The platform tents comfortably sleep 5 people as well. The park has no formal swimming area although some swim in the river if conditions allow. There is no boat launch area.
