McMicken Island Marine State Park

McMicken Island Marine State Park is an island in the South Puget Sound that features a one mile hiking trail and the perfect spot for lunch. On the island, there is not water but a vault toilet is available. At low tide, a sand bar that appears that connects McMicken Island to Harstine Island. McMicken Island has five moorage buoys for overnight stays. The island itself is only for day-use only.
Washington State Parks
Originally, a Swedish sailor jumped ship and settled on the island, naming the island after himself, Lundquist. However, when Mr. Lundquist attempted a legal claim on the island with the U.S. government, he was told they had no record of its existence. A surveyor was sent to record the island on U.S. maps and then gave the island his name, McMicken.
