Commanding Officers Quarters Museum
The commanding officers quarters are located at the head of Officers Row, at Fort Worden State Park. The late Victorian and Edwardian furnishings provide a unique glimpse into the life of a senior U. S. Army officer and his family between the period between 1830 to 1910. Special features of the house include the cross-gabled slate roof with its chimneys and decorated box cornices, hardwood floors, three fireplaces, copper sink, and brass chandelier. The nearly 6000 square foot house also has 10-foot high pressed ceilings. Views from the home overlook Admiralty Inlet across to the Cascade Mountains. The Commanding Officer's quarters was completed in 1904. During its military service it provided housing for 33 commanding officers and their families.
