Shaughnessy Park - Sumner
Hiding just a few blocks away from the Muckleshoot Casino parking garage, Shaughnessy Park has a different kind of excitement. The neighborhood park offers a kids play structure, swings, picnic tables, a large playfield with backstop and a full size basketball court. A portion of Shaughnessy Park is loaded with mature Douglas Fir trees offering shade on hot days, with a hillside & playful mining wreckage located in the back. The park dedicated in 1973 was named for a former Mayor James N. Shaughnessy who served from 1960 -1964. He was a pioneer family, an avid historian, and one of the founders of the White River Historical Society.
