Beaver Benchmark is a prominent peak with communication towers very visible as you drive south from Soldier Summit on Highway 6. Access is right off the highway and you can be enjoying big views in less than 20 minutes if you go fast. The whole upper mountain is one giant cow pasture...if I was a cow, this is where I would want to be. Access off the highway was under construction during highway widening but it's just west of the Emma Park Cut-off Road (Kvune Pass Road). As soon as you turn off the highway, there is a maze of roads leading to a active mine site. Take a somewhat paved road that goes east traversing above the highway. After about a half mile going east, you'll hit a 3 way intersection. Take the center one. This road will now turn southwest and go directly to the summit. I didn't see any gates and snow markers on the upper portion of the road hint they may plow it during the winter. If not, this would be a great X-C ski trip.
