The Snow Canyon Loop Trail is an 18 mile paved trail that loops through Snow Canyon and the outskirts of St. George. The section through the Snow Canyon State Park is very scenic while the remaining section is still dramatic, if you aren't from the area. Snow Canyon is a canyon carved from the red and white Navajo sandstone in the Red Mountains. If it was anywhere else other than Utah, the place would be a major attraction. There is a one mile section in the park where no bike trail exists and you'll be along the road. A few other sections adjacent to highway 18 have some big steep roller coaster dips. Total climbing is over 1,000 feet if you do the loop....so it's not that easy for kids. Taking the loop counter-clockwise avoids some of the biggest rollers and gives you downhill advantage for the one mile section along the road. Start at Bluff Street on the edge of town and look for a parking spot in one of the many pullouts.
