Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square miles with lots of meadows, two large plains and a seasonal swamp in the south. This is a beautiful park filled with the amazimg Baobab tree and mixed Acacia woodlands. Game includes zebras, elephants, giraffes, lions and waterbuck. All the animals enjoy the Tarangire River which is quite large . The animals are best viewed during the dry season, including elephant herds, elands, orynx, lesser kudo, hyenas, rhino, leopards, lions, and cheetah. Tarangire is typically best June to October, but there are animals all year long. Many of the animals leave the park during the months of November to May. We were there in January and there seemed to be lots of animals to me. The Tarangire is drier than the Serengeti, however its vegetation is much more green especially all the elephant grass. There are over 500 species of birds that have been identified in the park.
