The highest point in Florida is next to the Alabama border in the panhandle of Florida. The highpoint is always open, as a county park constructed in 1987. The park includes restrooms, nature trails, 2 covered picnic areas, signs and a monument. Britton Hill was named for Mrs. Hazel Britton, a postmistress at the time when Lakewood had a post office.
