Sylvan Lake a_link.gif
Custer State Park is the second largest State Park in the United States. A highlight is the rock formations of the Needles Highway Scenic Drive. The road passes through several narrow tunnels as the road works through the pinnacles. There are several other scenic drives within the park including the Wildlife Loop Road where you will get your best chance at viewing wildlife. A final must stop visit is to Sylvan Lake. An easy trail will take you all the way around the scenic lake. At the outlet of the lake is a dam sandwiched between rock spires. At the lake is also the trailhead for the 3.5 mile hike to the state highpoint of Black Elk Mountain (Harney Peak). The historic lookout at the top is worth the hike.
