Shorewood Park
This small park is only 3.3 acres but holds several short trails offering loop possibilities for those walking through the neighborhood. There are two main access points, one from 28th Ave SW and another from the cul-de-sac on 27th Place SW. Shorewood Park is behind Shorewood Elementary School and the development of its playground filled in the head of the parks ravine. The natural drainage was diverted under 28th Ave. SW. The park has some large Douglas-fir trees, not old-growth but trees that seem to be thriving well the past 50 years. The community often has work parties here removing invasive species and planting native plants. There is some plant identification signage informing visitors about what the different species are.
