Fort Steilacoom Park
Fort Steilacoom Park is the largest park in Lakewood. It has about every recreation activity a park can offer. With 340 acres, the park has a lake, prairie lands, historical sights, multiple trails, sports fields, a playground, and an off leash dog park. The Fort Steilacoom Park trail system is very popular for hikers, horse riders as well as mountain bikers. The sports fields cover baseball, softball and soccer fields. The 22 acre off-leash dog park is large and very popular. The kids play area may as well be Disneyland because you can easily loose your kids on a weekend day. The property has a long history, first as a military base, then a farm for Western State Hospital.
