Dumas Bay Park - Wildlife Sanctuary
Federal Way seems to be keeping Dumas Bay Park a bit of a secret. Maybe it is because the park can only fit a handful of cars, around 15 or so. Or possibly they don't want to take attention away from the Dumas Bay Center, another city park and revenue generator that is just down the road a bit. From the parking area, a short 1/4 mile trail leads down a nice gravel path among Maple and Alder trees to Dumas Bay beach. There you will find excellent wildlife viewing in the air as well as the shore when the tide is out. The shoreline is home to one of the area's largest great blue heron breeding colonies. A few interpretive signs are found throughout the park.
