Puget Sound Hikes
If you find yourself at the Semiahmoo Resort or in the area for whatever reason, you can get a nice walk in by doing this interesting semi urban loop trip. The Semiahmoo spit and developed area at the tip was designed for the walking public. Trails take in the shoreline behind the homes and rentals keeping the best views for those walking. On the mainland side, there is a huge section along Drayton Harbor that follows an old roadway that has been converted into a trail. Much of it is still paved although landslides, fallen trees and washouts do occur. Because of this, the trail is often closed in winter. To me, the dangers look quite minimal except maybe during a wind storm or major rain event. The trail section along the road near the golf course is well off the road and enjoyable. Out on the spit, there are trails on both sides of the roadway, one paved, one gravel. On the gravel trail, just follow it to the Semiahmoo Resort, out to the front of the building and walk through the parking lot to the marina where the paved trail ends.
