Puget Sound Hiking
Chambers Creek Canyon is a 2.5-mile-long greenbelt running between the cities of University Place and Lakewood. It is part of the Chambers Creek Regional Park. The deep forested canyon has a newer trail system being developed. Bridges over Chambers Creek are in the process of being planned and built. The first one is called Bridge 1, was placed in December of 2020 but as of 2023 had no signs leading to it from the main trail on the Lakewood side. The Lakewood side is the main trail that runs much of the length of the canyon. The trail is still under development and has unnecessary ups and downs that in the future will be fixed to a constant grade. The University Place side of the trail construction begins in 2024. Bridges will be added after.
