Belfair State Park
Washington State Parks
Located at the south end of Hood Canal, Belfair State Park offers camping, saltwater beaches, picnicking and walking trails. The tide flats here are particularly popular for clamming and oysters. Kite flying, birding and windsurfing are popular too. In fall, a large salmon run is in the creek that passes through the park. There are two picnic shelters but no electricity. There are dozens of other picnic tables scattered throughout the park. Next to the restrooms is a small kids play area and a large grass field for softball, soccer, or football games. Other beach activities that are done during warm weather are swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Several sources claim the water in summer is warm but I would be suspicious of that claim. Belfair State Park does make a good base camp for those who have come far distances to ride the Tahuya State Forest trails.
