Tillamook Cheese Factory

The Tillamook Cheese Factory is Oregon's biggest tourist attraction, drawing a million visitors a year. It features a free, self-guided tour with video presentations on Tillamooks history and the cheesemaking process. The upstairs observation areas provide viewing into the cheesemaking room and the packing line. The tour also includes informational and historical displays, and interactive kiosks. A sample counter offers a taste of several varieties of cheese. There is also a cheese, gift and gourmet shop, a Creamery Cafe for breakfast or lunch, and Tillamook Ice Cream counter. Tillamook cheese is the major product of the Tillamook County Creamery Association, a dairy cooperative. Most of the cows in Tillamook County produce milk for the Creamery Association, and are bred specifically to produce milk that is ideal for making Tillamook cheese.
