Hoodoo Peak
Elevation: 8,464 feet
Hiking Distance: 5.5 miles one-way
Elevation Gain: 4,500 feet
Access: Good gravel roads
Rank: 62nd Highest in Washington
One of the most easily accessible and quickest climbs of the top 100 peaks in Washington is Hoodoo. The road to the trailhead melts out a bit earlier than most so this is a good spring trip. With no snow, there is a nice trail all the way to Libby Lake. The summit is just a short scramble before the lake. In early season, the hike is a long snowshoe but you do avoid the rock hopping near the summit. Class 2
Take SR 153 for 20.5 miles up from Pateros. Turn left on Libby Lake Road/Blackpine Road. Follow it to the end of pavement around 3 miles. Go left following FR 4340 for 5 miles or so. Then a right on Road 700 for a bit and left on 750. Signs point most of the way.
