Latter-day Saints entered Teton Basin in 1888 and formed the Aline Ward in 1889. The name came from the fact that the 60 families in the ward lived in both Wyoming and Idaho. By 1901 the saints in this area became the new Teton Stake. As the area grew in population, a stake tabernacle was needed. The structure was completed in 1906. On February 17, 1907, President George Albert Smith dedicated the building. The cost was $5,000. It remained in use until 1944. The former Teton Stake is now known as the Driggs Idaho Stake. Plans for a new stake tabernacle were started in 1941 and in 1943 President David O. McKay dedicated the new tabernacle.
