Mount Kilimanjaro Climb (Day 4)

From Barranco Camp at 12,795 feet, the summit climb basically starts here on the morning of day 4. There would be very little sleep for the next 2 days as we were pushed up the mountain. The morning started with a 1,000 foot climb right out of camp of the Breakfast Wall. This is the steepest part of the climb with a few rock scrambles. Overall, there is no real exposure and the scramble is actually the most fun of the climb. At the top of the wall, the sun came out and we had some of the only real views during the climb. After many pictures, we dropped some, traversed more ups and downs until Karanga Camp. Here we would have a hot lunch, then continue on to climb up to Barafu Camp, our highest campsite. Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, we rested, ate and prepared for our midnight departure for the summit. This left around 6 hours to sleep, assuming you can, most of us got little.
