South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park

South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park protects the foothills in the southeast corner of this range. The Taylor Creek approach is 50 miles from the pavement in Pemberton along an increasingly deteriorating roadbed. Thus the actual hike to Cinnabar Basin depends on how far you can drive and on how much you like to wander. Tyax Air flies to Spruce Lake, Warner Lake and Lorna Lake (in neighbouring Big Creek Provincial Park) although most of their customers are mountain bikers. Lizard Lake can be day hiked from any of these spots and spectacular Vic Lake can be reached from Lorna Lake. The closest road access to this area is via Taseko Lakes and a long bush road to the Powell Creek trailhead.
