Elfin Lakes - Garibaldi Park
Coast Range
Diamond Head is the southern most Garibaldi Park trailhead and is used year round. It is wanded in the winter and open to mountain bikes in the summer. There is a shelter about seven miles in at Elfin Lakes, which is packed year round.
Mt. Garibaldi from the Elfin Lakes shelter 13.6 miles roundtrip from the Diamond Head trailhead, 2,000 foot gain
The expansive views of the Garibaldi Neve from the Opal Cone, 8 miles return, 820 foot gain from the Elfin Lakes shelter.
The best view of Mt. Garibaldi is reached by descending 300ft off the Opal Cone, crossing Zigzag Creek and ascending 500 foot up to the Ramparts. There are a couple ponds up here that provide pleasing reflections. The trail continues from there dropping down to Mamquam Lake but it's less scenic and not really worth the extra effort.
